Twitter Pic TTC Slack Off February 8, 2010

One pic off of tweeter of a TTC worker slacking off has created an uproar in Toronto for lack of TTC service. The man was sleeping on the job in the ticket counter and a guy snapped a photo and posted it on Twitter. This pic was takin at 10 pm (from a comment below the article)

I do not think this is acceptable matter because the photographer had not right in taking a picture of a man sleeping. He probably didn’t think about how much this could effect TTC and the worker himself. The photographer probably wanted to himulate the TTC’s lack of service and thought a lot of ppl would laugh at this. I think this picture impacted the TTC a lot becasues it shows the lack of service plus the TTC just recently raised it’s prices and seeing that worker sleeping on the job gives the impression that people are paying more for less service. Also since TTC has a Monopoly in Toronto for there transportation servicese people have to use it and the workers are abusing there powere over there customors by napping on the job. I think the photographer had the right to take this photo because it is in a public place but I don’t think he had the right to post it up cause he did not think of the consequences that would come from taking the picture.

In the end I don’t think that it is neither the TTC worker or the Photographer’s fault for this uproar. I think that it is the Twitter Community for making such an uproar on this picture…

Frances Balodis and MYC Essay December 8, 2009

I’m usually the person who wouldn’t listen to music or even enjoy it. I never liked to do anything, I would usually stay home and watch TV or play video games. I never thought that I would play and enjoy music until my parents introduced me to the music program Music for Young Children. I would go every Saturday to my MYC teacher and would have an hour of non stop music. I thoroughly enjoyed going to MYC and enjoyed being rewarder after I play my pieces well. It was finally my first recital with MYC and I was very excited. I was sitting in the 2nd row and saw all of my music classmates and they’re parents but they’re was one person I was unfamiliar with. She stood up, went to the microphone and said “Ladies and Gentleman, Thank you for attending our recital, I Frances Balodis The MYC founder and director of MYC now call on our first Performer Timothy.” I just realised that I had been called up to play, I suddenly was nerveos because I was about to play for the founder of the program. I went to the piano and froze. I was so nervous my hands wouldn’t move. Frances came up to me and comforted me and re assured me that I would do just fine. I began to play and I felt the feeling of accomplishment.

About 4 years later I graduated Grade 1 and at the same time my MYC teacher retired. I moved to a regular piano teacher and I missed all of the MYC components in music. My brother was starting piano and my parents entered him into the MYC program and he was lucky enough to have Frances as a piano teacher. I attended my brothers recital and saw Frances again. She went through the exact same speech she gave at my first recital then I listened to the performances given by her students. When it came to my brother to play he went through the same thing as me. He froze made some mistakes then played on. After the recital at the refreshments table Frances came up to me and my brother and said that we we’re very alike. I told her that I moved to a regular teacher and that I didn’t enjoy piano anymore. She talked to me and made me and gave me confidence again in my musical playing.

About a Year later Frances organized a gala at the National Arts Center where a special select few of students would be able to play for pianist and composer Christopher Norton. I really wanted to enter but unfortunately I wasn’t eligible because I was no longer an MYC student. I really enjoyed playing Christopher Norton’s Jazz styled music because Jazz music has it’s own personality compared to classical which I usually played. To me Classical all sounds the same. My brother was selected to play for Christopher Norton. Christopher Norton’s performances were amazing and they were also inspiring to all the performers. After Christopher Norton, all the students started to play there pieces for Christopher Norton. I continued to play the piano after the gala and I started to enjoy it once again.

Frances retired this year and it was a shock to my brother because without Frances my brother had to move to my piano teacher who wasn’t part of MYC. Just before Frances’ retirement, she flew over to Singapore and Korea to train regular piano teachers to teach MYC. She traveled with her daughter and her husband and landed in Singapore and Korea. Through her meetings in Singapore and Korea, Frances trained millions of workers and through them, she touched millions of lives outside of Canada and made MYC a national music program. Without Frances I would have never found MYC, never played piano and never would have been the same person today.

Bitstrips 2This is my comic for “Ender’s Game”. In the scene above Stiltson a person not very fond of Ender, picking on him because he is a third child which is very uncommon at the time due to overpopulation and because he recently got his monitor removed. Ender thought that if he could rattle Stiltson then Stiltson and his gang would leave him alone. So Ender nocked Stiltson unconcious and sent a big influence into Stiltson’s Gang. I really enjoyed creating this Comic because instead of writting about it it gave me an oppurtunity to create it as a visual

My Strengths in Blogging November 17, 2009

I think that one of my strengths in blogging is that I understand how to create and display my thoughts through blogging. I can communicate my ideas through blogging as if I was really speacking it verbally. My posts are clear and accurate and is on topic. Another strength I have as a blogger is that I can create and custimize pages and text. It makes the blogging experience more engoyable for the blogger if this is possible. You can add your own personallity into your blog

I think I can work on understanding how to add pics and widget’s to my blog. Unfortunatly I never learned how to do this method because of my abcents at school. I hope to learn this skill by asking Mrs. Smith about it and listen diligently to understand the concept

Sapper Steven Marshall November 8, 2009

Sapper Steven Marshall had only been deployed in Afghanistan for about a week. He said that it was a great honor to serve in the Canadian military. Friends of Sapper said that Sapper always had a great sense of humor and always uplifted his group where ever he served. He always put others needs before himself and cared for those in need. Sapper Steven Marshall was 24 at the time of his death on October 30th 2009. He has been the 133 person to die in this effort for peace and hasn’t been the first to be noticed. He died while on foot patrol to secure a local neighborhood when an improvised explosive just south east of Kandahar City detonated and Steven was caught and killed. Fortunately there were no other casualties in this incident. He lived in Calgary, Alberta and was part of a combat engineering regiment. Just a 2 days ago Justin Boyes was killed by a homemade explosive. Explosives have been a big part of the war wether it was a land mine or a bomb. Explosives are one of the main reasons why Canadians die in the war. I don’t see why the war has gone on this long. I wish that the war would resolve and cease to exist. At least without a war countless lives would be saved and bonds wouldn’t have been broken. I hope that the war will resolve some time soon and I give best wishes to those trying in Afghanistan to make a change.

So if it was then you could click obn the link and read about that term. My next Blogging skill to learn would be to learn how to put video’s and pics on my blog.
